Apple iPlace Moving Downtown Greenville, SC

Wow…hold the horses. Now this is getting really confusing but it is all good news. We first reported that Apple was looking to move to downtown Greenville, SC on South Main Street. Then we discovered that the plans were actually to put an Apple store on Woodruff Rd. This is still uncertain because at this point we cannot confirm the progress of the shopping complex due to the state of the economy.

HOWEVER…

iPlace Technology Solutions (an authorized Apple reseller and service provider) at 7993 Pelham Road, Greenville, SC is moving downtown to 550 South Main Street, on the second floor above High Cotton. This is confirmed – I spoke with them this morning. Opening day is planned for sometime around Thanksgiving. We will firm up this date as soon as we know more. iPlace is promising a better lineup of Macintosh Computers and much improved service capabilities. They have promised to keep us up to date as they move forward.

It’s interesting though, the similarity in the addresses in these two reports we’re hearing. There is a South Main Street planned for Magnolia Place, but then there’s also a South Main Street downtown.

Apple Store coming to Greenville?

Possible future location of an Apple Store

It’s purely speculation at this point, but we’re seeing some rumblings on the web that are suggesting that there’s an Apple store in the works for Greenville. From what we have read, the store will be located at 505 South Main Street. Now, this address is a little confusing, because at first, we thought this meant that the store would be going in the West End of downtown near Falls Park.

After doing a little more research we learned that the location will actually be on Woodruff Road at the site of the old Greenville Mall. One of the street names within the shopping complex (currently under construction) will apparently be South Main. The name of this complex is Magnolia Park and you can check out their website and plans here.

It looks like with the way things are going with the economy right now, they are planning on opening Phase 1 of this shopping complex (which this store will be a part of) sometime in 2009. We’ll keep our eyes and ears open to any more news on this, but this would certainly be AWESOME!

Dine Out for Mom

On Thursday, October 23, some area restaurants (25 restaurants/60 locations to be exact) are donating a percentage of sales to Let There Be Mom. This organization allows mothers that have been diagnosed with a life threatening illness to set up a legacy for their families.

A lot of folks eat out for lunch, dinner or both anyway. So on Thursday, why not pick one of the participating restaurants and help out a good cause.

Apple Announcement Oct. 14

I am super excited about the Apple Announcement (code named “Brick”) set for next Tuesday, October 14. As much as I would like it to be the release of a tablet Mac, the most plausible of the rumors circulating the internet point to a new solid aluminum manufacturing process. It also looks like Apple will be announcing that the MacBooks will be getting an aluminum makeover.

Check out all of the rumors and speculation flying around about this announcement over at MacRumors.com.
