Apple Store coming to Greenville? (part II)

Here’s a quick follow-up on a post we made a while back about an Apple store being built in Greenville. It sounds like the plans for the store at Magnolia Park have been scrapped, since it doesn’t look like that complex is going to be completed (or started?) any time soon.
We’re in luck though – it appears that Apple has signed a lease to put a store in the Haywood Mall in the space where Glamour Shots used to be. Apparently, Apple’s wanted to get into the mall to begin with, but there were no vacancies. We’ll trade a Glamour Shots for an Apple store any day. To make the deal even sweeter (well, for us anyway) is that the Drum office is less than a mile away from the mall.
Check out the information here about current, planned and rumored Apple store locations.
I called Simon (leasing agent of Haywood Mall). I spoke to a guy named barry Ellison. He says that NO LEASE HAS BEEN SIGNED period by Apple ANYWHERE in Greenville and that currently no suitable space is available. The only glimmer of hope is downtown Greenville or possibly the economy taking it’s toll on a current store at Haywood. A lease would have to be signed now for an opening in 2010.
You might be right….We don’t know for sure…but I can tell you that something is coming to the old Glamour Shots store in Haywood Mall. I checked it out a few weeks ago and it is blocked off and covered up…We found this information on this site http://html.ifoman.com.s3.amazonaws.com/chronology.html about three quarters of the way down the page under the Future store locations. So far this site has been fairly reliable about new stores opening? I guess we will just have to wait and see?
That is an Auntie Anne’s Pretzels.
We will go by and check this out…if this is the case we will make an official statement as to that effect. Thanks for posting and letting us know. If you hear of any other news about this, please let us know.
I’ve got pictures and an application for employment from Auntie Annes Pretzels which is scheduled to open Dec 2 2009
Also, I spoke with the Simon lease manager – no lease has been signed and no suitable space is currently available.
Well, there you have it. That’s unfortunate though. Hopefully we’ll get Apple here one day.
Oh, and thanks for all of the detective work Rus.
Mr Simon leasing manager is not telling the truth…he can’t just tell you if a particular store is coming before the company releases it!
UPDATE: For real this time…
